4.1-magnitude earthquake strikes Yemen’s Shabwa

SHABWA, Aug. 27 (YPA) – A 4.1-magnitude earthquake struck several districts across Yemen’s southern Shabwa Governorate early Thursday, according to local sources.

The quake occurred at approximately 1:32 a.m. local time, with its epicenter about 13 kilometers south of Ataq, the governorate’s capital.

Residents in several districts, including Ataq, As-Saeed, Nisab, Habban, Lower Markhah, and Arma, reported feeling the tremor, which was followed by a weaker aftershock at around 2:00 a.m.

No casualties were immediately reported, while several homes near the epicenter sustained damage, including cracks in their walls.
