US drone crashed in Djibouti after being hit near Bab al-Mandab

DJIBOUTI, Aug. 10 (YPA) – A U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone crashed in Djibouti amid heightened tensions around the Bab al-Mandab Strait and Yemen’s nearby western coast.

Djiboutian media reported that the drone was likely struck in the Bab al-Mandab area, although the cause of the crash has not yet been determined and it remains unclear whether it resulted from an attack or other factors.

The U.S. Embassy in Djibouti confirmed an incident involving a U.S. military aircraft near Chabelley Airport and said an investigation is underway.
