Malaysia intercepts military shipment bound for Israeli occupation

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 10 (YPA) – Malaysian security authorities announced the seizure of a shipment containing tools and equipment specialized in weapons manufacturing. The shipment was aboard the Berlin Maersk, bound for Elbit Systems Land, a major Israeli arms manufacturer.

The shipment was seized at Tanjung Pelepas port based on information provided by the BDS Malaysia movement and the International Progress organization, relying on data obtained by the No Port of Genocide organization.

The operation is part of Malaysia’s efforts to prevent arms-related shipments from reaching the Israeli occupation, and is in line with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s November 2023 decision to ban ships bound for Israel from entering Malaysian ports.

The entities that uncovered the shipment emphasized that the seizure reflects the importance of monitoring the movement of ships and goods related to the arms industry, given the ongoing war of genocide against the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian National Committee of the BDS movement praised the move, considering it an important step in confronting companies linked to the occupation system.

It also called for continued legal action and further steps to hold the colonial and apartheid system accountable and to prevent the supply of equipment and materials to Israeli arms companies.
