Russia targets two Ukrainian vessels carrying military cargo

MOSCOW, Aug. 06 (YPA) – Russia’s Defense Ministry announced Thursday that its forces targeted two Ukrainian cargo vessels in the Black Sea, adding that they were transporting military supplies as part of Kyiv’s maritime infrastructure network.

According to the ministry’s statement, the strikes took place on Wednesday in waters south and east of the strategic Ukrainian city of Odesa, using attack drones.

The ministry did not disclose the extent of damage caused to the vessels.

The strikes came amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, which began with Russia’s large-scale military operation in Ukraine on 24 February 2022.

Moscow has stated that ending the conflict requires Kyiv to abandon plans to join NATO and Western military structures, a demand Ukraine rejects as interference in its sovereignty.
