WASHINGTON, July 21 (YPA) – U.S. President Donald Trump commented on the recent escalation between Yemen and Saudi Arabia, saying the United States would respond to any developments affecting the Bab al-Mandab Strait or the Red Sea.
Speaking at the White House on Tuesday, Trump said, “If something happens in Bab al-Mandab, we’ll deal with it,” adding, “If something happens in the Red Sea, we’ll have to deal with it.”
Trump also referred to previous confrontations between U.S. forces and Yemen during the period of military operations linked to Gaza, noting that the two sides reached an agreement in May 2025 under which U.S. military operations against Yemen ceased.
His remarks came a day after Yemen’s armed forces announced a ban on the passage of Saudi-linked shipping, describing the move as a response to the Saudi-imposed blockade on Yemen.
