Sanaa negotiating team: De-escalation with Riyadh hinges on humanitarian measures

SANAA, July 17 (YPA) – A source within Sanaa’s negotiating delegation said any path toward de-escalation with Saudi Arabia is contingent on addressing humanitarian issues and lifting restrictions imposed on Yemen, foremost among them fully reopening Sanaa airport to all destinations and paying the salaries of Yemeni public employees.

In a statement, the source said any steps to resume flights to Sanaa would be welcomed, provided they are coordinated with the relevant authorities in Sanaa and implemented without restrictions or conditions, ending what the source described as external tutelage over Yemen.

According to Yemen’s Saba News Agency in Sanaa, the source said attempts to offer partial or symbolic measures that do not meet the demands of the Yemeni people would not be sufficient, stressing that a comprehensive agreement addressing humanitarian issues and fully reopening the airport is required.

The source added that the airport issue cannot be separated from other humanitarian matters, particularly the payment of public sector salaries and broader humanitarian conditions, describing them as essential components of any de-escalation arrangements.
