WEST BANK, July 16 (YPA) – Israeli occupation forces launched a wide-scale raid and arrest campaign across several cities and towns in the occupied West Bank and East Quds (Jerusalem) early Thursday, detaining at least 32 Palestinians, including several former prisoners.
The Prisoners’ Information Office said Israeli forces continued to escalate mass arrest campaigns across the occupied West Bank, targeting former Palestinian prisoners and young men. The raids included house searches, damage to property, and field interrogations of residents.
The office said Israeli forces arrested 13 Palestinians from the town of Beit Ummar, north of Hebron.
In Qalqilya province, five Palestinians were detained during raids on the villages of Baqat al-Hatab and Jinsafut.
The occupation forces also stormed the village of Hajja, where they set up a military checkpoint and questioned residents while checking their identity cards.
In Bethlehem, three Palestinians were arrested after Israeli forces raided and searched homes in Aida refugee camp, north of the city.
In Tubas province, Israeli forces arrested the father of the slain Palestinian Omar Basharat during a raid on the town of Tammun.
In Tulkarm province, Israeli troops stormed the town of Anabta, searched several homes, and re-arrested two former Palestinian prisoners after holding and interrogating a number of residents.
Israeli forces also arrested a Palestinian from the town of Al-Jib, northwest of occupied Jerusalem, as part of the wider arrest campaign.
Israeli forces continue to carry out near-daily raids and arrests across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
According to data released by the Mu’ta Center, Israeli forces carried out 1,140 military raids and 1,303 home searches across the West Bank and East Jerusalem in June, resulting in the arrest of 676 Palestinians and the temporary detention of 86 others.
The Palestine Center for Prisoners Studies documented nearly 3,000 arrests by Israeli forces during the first half of this year, including 109 women and 212 children.
