GAZA, July 07 (YPA) – The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor has warned that the Israeli occupation authorities are turning the Gaza Strip into a “genocidal enclave” far more dangerous than the infamous “Srebrenica” pocket, emphasizing that this systematic isolation aims to create conditions for the forced displacement of the population under the misleading moniker of “voluntary departure.”
In a statement, the Monitor explained that the occupation army is imposing an internal blockade and isolation to militarily re-engineer the Strip, after directly seizing control of 65% of its total area—an act considered an “illegal annexation” of land by force of arms.
The report revealed shocking figures reflecting the scale of human overcrowding, as approximately 2.1 million Palestinians have been confined to an area of just 128 square kilometers. This makes the current population density roughly 60 times higher than that of the “Srebrenica” enclave during the Bosnian War and prior to the massacre.
The statement also warned of the occupation’s endeavors to expand its military control to 70% of the Strip, which would herd the population into an area of only 109 square kilometers. This would cause the population density to skyrocket to 19,300 people per square kilometer—the highest in history.
The Monitor stressed that the occupation has systematically destroyed the infrastructure, resulting in the accumulation of millions of tons of rubble, effectively turning the areas theoretically left for the population into uninhabitable zones. It added that most residents live in worn-out tents or structurally compromised buildings, amid the risks of collapses and the spread of epidemics.
The report considered that this catastrophic reality leaves Palestinians with two choices: “physical destruction or displacement,” emphasizing that forced transfer policies are an extension of settler-colonialism, which “Israel” is attempting to market internationally and impose as a fait accompli.
The Monitor called on the international community and UN institutions to take firm stances, including the categorical rejection of evacuation plans, and to consider any departure of the population under duress as a fully-fledged “crime of forced deportation.”
It also urged states to impose immediate economic and military sanctions on “Israel,” and to develop a comprehensive embargo on the supply of weapons and military technology.
Furthermore, the Monitor demanded that international organizations intervene to lift the blockade, dismantle the isolation blocks, and open humanitarian corridors under direct UN supervision, alongside calling on UN agencies to conduct an urgent and independent assessment of habitable areas in Gaza to expose “Israeli” deception regarding “safe humanitarian zones.”
