SANAA, Aug. 21 (YPA) – International maritime reports indicate stable vessel traffic through Bab al-Mandab, confirming, according to circulating data, that Sanaa’s naval measures do not target international shipping in the Red Sea. Instead, they are strictly limited to vessels linked to Saudi Arabia, within the framework of the “blockade-for-blockade” equation declared by Sanaa in response to Riyadh’s insistence on maintaining the blockade imposed on the Yemeni people.
According to Lloyd’s List, the British journal specializing in global shipping, maritime transport, and international trade, 223 transits by vessels with active Automatic Identification Systems (AIS) were recorded crossing Bab al-Mandab between August 10 and 16.
The publication noted that insurance coverage remains available for vessels not linked to Saudi Arabia, despite some shipowners and operators avoiding calls at Saudi ports on the Red Sea.
These figures demonstrate that international navigation through the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab remains continuous and stable, and that Sanaa’s maritime measures are strictly confined to Saudi-affiliated vessels.
This data places countries that Riyadh claimed joined the coalition announced by Saudi Arabia last July under the responsibility of bearing the potential risks should they participate alongside Saudi Arabia in any hostile action against Sanaa under the pretext of protecting maritime navigation. As international data and reports affirm the ongoing security of navigation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab, Sanaa may treat vessels belonging to these states as active participants in the aggression against Yemen and bar their passage through the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab.
