SANAA, Aug. 20 (YPA) – A member of the Supreme Political Council in Sanaa, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtoor, stated that Saudi Arabia’s practices in Yemen’s southern and eastern governorates represent an effort to reimpose external tutelage.
He noted that Riyadh approaches Yemeni factions and political forces based on the degree to which their decision-making remains independent of Saudi influence.
Bin Habtoor urged residents of the southern and eastern governorates not to allow their just causes to be turned into a conflict that does not serve their interests, or to permit their youth to become tools in an externally managed conflict. He stressed that Sanaa does not view them as adversaries and does not approach their issues with hostility.
He added that the core of the ongoing struggle lies in confronting a project aimed at keeping Yemen’s sovereign decision-making, natural resources, ports, and maritime corridors subordinate to external control and foreign influence.
