GAZA, July 06 (YPA) – The Gaza-based Government Media Office declared on Monday the dissolution of the Government Emergency Committee and the resignation of its chairman, who also served as acting head of the Government Follow-up Committee, as preparations were completed to transfer administrative responsibilities to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza.
In a statement Government Media Office Director Ismail Al-Thawabta said the authorities in Gaza had repeatedly expressed their full readiness to hand over governance to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza.
He said the latest measures translate that commitment into practical steps aimed at facilitating the administrative transition.
Al-Thawabta stated that the move reflects what he described as a commitment to national interests and efforts to ease the humanitarian suffering of Palestinians amid the ongoing war, delays in reconstruction, the continued blockade and border closures, and the absence of an Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.
He added that all administrative and legal arrangements for the handover of the government system had been completed and formally presented to a national team representing Palestinian factions and political forces, the Higher Committee of Tribes and Clans, civil society organizations, and an observer from the United Nations.
According to the announcement, Mohammed Abdul Khaleq Al-Farra resigned as head of the Government Emergency Committee and acting head of the Government Follow-up Committee, while the Emergency Committee was officially dissolved to facilitate the transitional process and implement the agreed arrangements.
Al-Thawabta said that only technical and professional government employees will remain in their posts to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of public services and prevent an administrative or technical vacuum.
He noted that this arrangement is consistent with the roadmap agreed upon by Palestinian factions during meetings in Cairo.
He also stressed that all public service employees are state personnel who are fully prepared to work under the authority of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza and to implement its directives and decisions.
Al-Thawabta called on all relevant parties to expedite the committee’s assumption of its administrative and national responsibilities to strengthen the resilience of the Palestinian people and address their humanitarian needs.
