BAGHDAD, July 05 (YPA) – Iraq’s Counter Terrorism Service declared on Sunday that one of its officers, First Lieutenant Hassan Khudhair Zughair, was killed during an armed clash with militants from the Islamic State (ISIS) group in Kirkuk Province.
According to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the agency said in a statement that the officer “attained martyrdom while defending the homeland” during the confrontation with ISIS fighters in Kirkuk.
The Counter Terrorism Service reaffirmed its commitment to continuing operations aimed at eliminating ISIS remnants from Iraqi territory, stressing that it will persist with its military campaign until security and stability are fully restored across the country.
On Saturday night, the agency announced the seizure of a cache of weapons in the Al-Hamdaniya district of Nineveh Province, including a large number of rockets, mortar rounds, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The service said the operation was carried out based on precise intelligence and emphasized that its security missions will continue to protect Iraq’s stability and public security.
