UKMTO: Armed boats approach ship south of Yemen’s Balhaf

SHABWA, July 01 (YPA) – The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) revealed on Wednesday that it received a report of a vessel being approached by several small craft with the people on board carrying small weapons in waters south of Yemen’s Balhaf .

“The Crew are mustered in the citadel and are reported as safe. The Master of a third-party vessel in the vicinity, reported small arms fired over Ch 16, this remains unconfirmed,” the British maritime agency stated.

The agency also warned all vessels to exercise caution when sailing through the area and to report any “suspicious activity.”
