Aden rights committee calls for probe into violations

ADEN, June 27 (YPA) – The Coordination Committee of Civil and Human Rights Forces in the Saudi-controlled city of Aden, south of Yemen, has condemned what it described as serious violations in the city, including allegations of kidnapping, enforced disappearance, extortion, and sexual assault.

In a statement, the committee said these acts undermine human dignity and social stability and represent a direct threat to public safety in Aden.

It criticized the inadequate responses to such incidents, saying that continued silence or superficial handling of reported cases is unacceptable given the current social conditions.

The committee called for urgent, independent, and transparent investigations into all cases that have drawn public attention, with results made public and safeguards established to ensure judicial independence from interference or pressure.

It also stressed the need to protect victims, witnesses, and their families, ensuring they are not subjected to intimidation or further harm.

The statement reaffirmed support for efforts to enable victims to pursue justice and to hold those responsible accountable under the law, stressing that addressing these cases has become an urgent legal and social necessity.
