Living crises escalates in Hadramout coast amid gas shortage, congestion at Al-Wadiah crossing,

HADRAMOUT, June 25 (YPA) – Living crises have escalated in the oil-rich, Saudi-controlled province of Hadramout, eastern Yemen, with the return of a domestic gas crisis to the city of Mukalla and the coastal districts, causing long queues of vehicles at filling stations.

Local sources attributed the shortage to Safer Company in Marib—controlled by the Islah party—reducing Hadramout’s gas quota.

Concurrently, travelers through the Al-Wadiah border crossing with Saudi Arabia are facing dire humanitarian conditions and severe congestion, with waiting times reaching up to 48 hours due to complex procedures compounded by harsh desert weather and temperatures exceeding 45°C.

Local observers view these recurring crises in Hadramout and other Saudi-controlled areas (including Taiz) as “manufactured” to pave the way for new price hikes, further compounding the burden on citizens amid the continuous collapse of electricity and basic services.
