Video: Saudi-backed forces crack down on STC protest in Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, June 20 (YPA) – The Saudi-backed security forces, including units known as the Al Tawara and Dera al-Watan brigades, used live fire on Saturday during protests linked to the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC) in the Wadi Hadramawt region.

According to local sources, the demonstrations in Seiyun city were held to protest the external control and political dominance in the area. The protests also saw arrests and a security crackdown targeting participants and supporters.

The same sources said armed units deployed across the city’s streets, with military vehicles positioned at city entrances and key roads in a preventive security measure aimed at restricting access to the central protest area.

They added that hundreds of people from surrounding districts were prevented from entering the city, while several arrests were carried out during the operation.

Despite the security presence, small groups of protesters could march through parts of Seiyun, voicing opposition to the crackdown and calling for changes in the security situation in Hadramout.
