Update: Five Palestinians killed, others wounded in Israeli drone strike on apartment building in Gaza City

GAZA, June 20 (YPA) – At least five Palestinians were killed and others wounded early Saturday morning when Israeli forces bombed an apartment building in Gaza City.

Palestinian medical sources reported that five Palestinians were killed and others wounded when Israeli forces bombed an apartment belonging to the Safadi family on Thalatini Street in Gaza City.

The sources added that Israeli tanks opened fire from positions south of the al-Mawasi area west of Rafah.

Israeli tanks also intensified shelling toward the southern areas of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, according to the sources.

In a related incident, Israeli naval vessels opened fire in the sea off the southern Gaza Strip on Saturday morning.

On Friday, Gaza’s Health Ministry said that since the ceasefire took effect on October 11, a total of 1,007 people had been killed and 3,165 others injured, in addition to 784 bodies recovered from under the rubble.

The ministry added that the cumulative death toll since the start of the war on October 7, 2023, had risen to 73,018, while the number of wounded reached 173,273.
