Iran: Geneva talks agenda unchanged, Hormuz navigation to be managed with Oman

TEHRAN, June 17 (YPA) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei confirmed on Wednesday that the programs of the Geneva meeting have not undergone any change so far.

In a statement, he noted that some of the proposals presented include signing a memorandum of understanding by the presidents of the two countries, and this proposal is still under study.

Baghaei explained in his statements today that the continued occupation of lands in Lebanon by the Israeli entity is a violation of the memorandum of understanding, stressing that his country will take the necessary measures in this regard.

He pointed out that it was agreed to negotiate to reach a final understanding within 60 days, pointing to the agreement to return navigation traffic in the Strait of Hormuz to normal within a specific period.

Baghaei added that the responsibility for managing navigation in the Strait of Hormuz falls on Iran, without the need for the intervention of other parties.

He explained that Tehran and the Sultanate of Oman will cooperate to establish a mechanism for managing the Strait, while holding consultations with countries in the region when needed.
