SANAA, June 17 (YPA) – Officials in Sanaa have issued unprecedented warnings to Saudi Arabia, accusing Riyadh of continuing to ignore the economic hardships facing the Yemeni people after more than eleven years of conflict and blockade.
The officials stated that “the phase of long patience is nearing its end” and that Yemeni rights would no longer remain subject to political delays.
Mohammed Al-Fareh, a member of the Ansarallah political bureau, questioned whether Riyadh expected the Yemeni public to remain silent indefinitely regarding widespread hunger, withheld civil service salaries, and displacement affecting millions.
Al-Fareh emphasized that Sanaa’s current regional engagement in support of Gaza and Lebanon does not mean the government has abandoned its domestic responsibilities or forgotten the impact of the protracted war.
“The patience of the Yemeni people should not be interpreted as weakness or surrender,” Al-Fareh said on the social media platform X. He warned that relying on a strategy of economic exhaustion through the blockade and starvation is bound to fail, adding that Yemen’s sovereign wealth and dignity remain non-negotiable.
In a concurrent statement, Hezam Al-Asad, a member of the Shura Council and the Ansarallah political bureau, raised the tone of the rhetoric toward Saudi Arabia, declaring that eleven years of hardship were sufficient.
Al-Asad stressed that the time has come for Yemenis to benefit from their country’s national revenues and resources free from foreign blockade and pressure.
Writing on X, Al-Asad hinted at potential consequences if the current status quo persists, noting that “every patience has its limits.” He concluded his remarks with a Quranic verse permitting fighting for those who have been wronged, signaling a potential shift in Sanaa’s approach toward securing its demands if political stagnation continues.
