Yemeni Parliament condemns Trump’s insult to Mecca, calls for holding him accountable

SANAA, June 15 (YPA) – The Yemeni House of Representatives in Sanaa has strongly condemned the insult made by US President Donald Trump against the Holy City of Mecca, calling for him to be held accountable and urging efforts to enact legislation that criminalizes offenses against religions and sacred sanctities.

In a statement issued this evening, the House considered this insult to be an extension of the repeated and deliberate offenses through which the West provokes the sentiments of the Islamic nation and its sanctities.

The Parliament called upon Arab and Islamic parliaments and governments to condemn the recurring insults to Islamic sanctities, urging the peoples of the nation to organize events to denounce them.

Furthermore, the statement appealed to the Yemeni people to take to the streets in massive public turnouts and participate in the million-man rallies scheduled to be held in the capital, Sanaa, and the free governorates, to denounce Trump’s insult to Mecca, in response to the call of Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi and the political leadership.

The House of Representatives reaffirmed Yemen’s steadfast position in supporting the causes of the nation and defending its sanctities, calling on Arab and Islamic parliaments, as well as the free people of the world, to hold Trump accountable and to work toward enacting legislation that criminalizes offenses against religions and sacred sanctities.
