SANAA, June 11 (YPA) – At a time of increasing political and diplomatic pressure on the Palestinian side amid ongoing negotiations in Cairo, the Sanaa-based authorities issued a firm statement carrying messages to both the Israeli occupation’s authorities and mediators about the Gaza Strip.
In a statement, Sanaa authorities stressed that efforts to disarm the Palestinian resistance or impose surrender will not succeed, reaffirming Yemen’s political and military support for Palestine will continue until the end of the occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital.
In this context, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Sanaa government Abdulwahid Abu Ras said on Thursday that Yemen is closely following the ongoing talks in Cairo involving the Palestinian side.
According to Sanaa-based Saba News Agency, Abu Ras said that continued pressure on the Palestinian side to relinquish its weapons would amount to serving Israeli occupation’s interests and advancing efforts to impose control over Gaza.
“The Israeli occupation continues daily attacks and destruction, while the Palestinian side remains committed to the ceasefire framework,” he added.
Abu Ras added that pressure is being exerted through Israeli aggressive actions as well as diplomatic channels and mediators in an effort to force Palestinian surrender, which he said would not be achieved given the scale of losses already endured in Gaza.
He concluded by reaffirming Yemen’s support for Palestine and said the Palestinian people would not abandon their position regardless of the sacrifices, reiterating calls for the establishment of a Palestinian state on its full territory.
