TEHRAN, June 02 (YPA) – Discussions are underway in Tehran over the draft of a potential final memorandum of understanding with the United States, and no official response has yet been submitted.
according to a source familiar with the negotiations told Iran’s Mehr News Agency, Iran is approaching the proposed agreement with caution due to Washington’s history of failing to honor previous commitments.
It said Tehran is focused on securing tangible benefits and reliable guarantees before moving forward with any deal.
The source added that while the United States is concerned about the prospect of renewed conflict, Iran’s primary concern is the substance and durability of any agreement, arguing that Washington invested heavily in confrontation without achieving its objectives.
The agency further stated that Iran’s position is based on mechanisms that ensure concrete, verifiable, and reversible implementation measures rather than political assurances alone.
Earlier, Saeed Ajrloo, a member of the media team accompanying the Iranian negotiating delegation, said that the latest U.S. draft no longer explicitly referred to the transfer or disposal of nuclear materials. Instead, it used broader terms such as determining the status, the fate of materials,” or settling the issue of materials.
Ajrloo stressed that Iran would not accept any commitment requiring the disposal of, or transfer of, its nuclear materials to the United States.
