AMSTERDAM, June 01 (YPA) – A video circulating on social media has sparked a wave of widespread outrage within the Netherlands and abroad, documenting the violent handling by a Dutch police officer who forcefully pushed a pregnant Palestinian woman to the ground.
The incident occurred inside an asylum seekers’ reception center in the city of Zeist during the arrest of her husband, Wisam Miqdad—a Palestinian from the Gaza Strip facing deportation to Egypt.
For its part, the Dutch police announced that the intervention followed a report of vandalism and threats involving a knife; however, this account has not yet been independently verified.
The authorities have neither released recordings prior to the arrest nor provided details regarding the circumstances of using force against the pregnant woman, fueling extensive criticism.
Notably, social media posts attributed to the husband stated that he had previously spent four years in unjust imprisonment in Greece.
