Gaza Health Ministry says casualties go on to mount as death toll climbs 73,000

GAZA, June 01 (YPA) – The death toll from the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Strip has risen to 72,941 people, with 172,967 others injured since October 7, 2023, the Gaza-based Ministry of Health said on Monday.

In its daily statistical report, the ministry stated that Gaza hospitals received two martyred and 40 wounded individuals during the past 24 hours.

The ministry added that since the ceasefire took effect on January 11, the number of people killed by Israeli occupation’s fire has reached 932, while 2,859 others have been injured.

It also reported that the bodies of 781 victims were recovered during the same period.

According to the ministry, a number of victims remain trapped beneath rubble or in areas inaccessible to rescue teams, with ambulance and civil defense crews still unable to reach them.
