WEST BANK, June 01 (YPA) – The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission revealed that the Israeli occupation authorities plan to build at least 2,721 new settlement units in several settlements across the West Bank.
The commission said in a statement that the Higher Planning Council of the so-called Civil Administration, have approved a meeting scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, 2026, to discuss a new package of settlement plans that include the advancement of at least 2,721 new settlement units in several settlements across the West Bank.
The agenda also includes regulatory and structural plans aimed at expanding the settlements’ jurisdiction and strengthening their legal and planning frameworks.
The proposed settlement units are distributed among several settlements, most notably a plan to build 1,006 units in the settlement of Gvaot west of Bethlehem, which has been consolidated as an independent settlement after being separated from Alon Shvut in March 2025. The plans also include 922 units in Har Bracha south of Nablus, 455 units in Mevo Dotan west of Jenin, and 234 units in Kiryat Arba east of Hebron as part of the “Hembesher” neighborhood project.
This project is considered particularly significant because the planned neighborhood is located within the city of Hebron itself, approximately 800 meters north of Kiryat Arba and geographically separated from it.
In addition, the plans include 100 units in Sansana south of Hebron, along with additional housing units in the settlements of Ariel and Barkan in Salfit Governorate.
The meeting will also discuss several proposals related to modifying construction boundaries, changing land-use designations, and updating building regulations in settlements including Ariel, Ma’ale Adumim, and Modi’in Illit, reflecting the continued efforts of the Israeli government to complete the planning and legal infrastructure of the settlement project alongside ongoing settlement expansion.
According to the Commission, these plans demonstrate the occupation authorities’ continued efforts to impose new realities on Palestinian land through the expansion of existing settlements and the establishment of urban-style settlement centers.
The commission warned that the plans could lead to further confiscation of Palestinian land, fragment geographic continuity between Palestinian communities, and represent an extension of the gradual annexation policies being implemented throughout the West Bank.
