Iran accuses US President of betraying diplomacy amid ceasefire talks

HEHRAN, May 30 (YPA) – Mohsen Rezaei, adviser to the leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution for military affairs, said on Saturday that the U.S. president is “betraying diplomacy for the third time” by maintaining the naval blockade on Iran and presenting excessive demands during ongoing negotiations.

In a post on the X platform, Rezaei stated that the continuation of the blockade and Washington’s negotiating stance demonstrate that the U.S. president is “not acting as a negotiator” and is instead pursuing other objectives.

His remarks came as US-Iran talks, mediated by Pakistan, continued to gain momentum amid growing expectations of a preliminary understanding aimed at easing tensions, despite persistent disagreements over key issues, including Iran’s nuclear program and navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

Rezaei’s comments were made against the backdrop of escalating regional tensions and ongoing diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement between Tehran and Washington.
