TEHRAN, May 23 (YPA) – An Iranian informed source categorically denied a report by Al Arabiya network about Iran’s proposal for a 10-year suspension of uranium enrichment, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported.
Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, the informed source said that “Al-Arabiya’s report that Iran has proposed to suspend uranium enrichment above 3.6 percent for 10 years is fundamentally false.”
The source at the same time underlined that basically, the focus of the messages and talks in the current situation is solely on the issue of “ending the war”.
“No details about the nuclear issue are being discussed.”
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Esmaeil Baqaei, said that Tehran remains at a delicate stage in its talks with the United States, describing the situation as “very far and very close” to an agreement, according Iranian television.
He noted that the negotiations at this stage are not addressing the nuclear issue or the details of sanctions relief, adding that Tehran has taken a “responsible and wise” decision to make the focus of the talks the ending of hostilities across all fronts, including Lebanon.
US–Iran negotiations have accelerated in recent days and hours. The Pakistani military announced that talks held over the past 24 hours had resulted in “encouraging progress toward a final understanding.”
