The Netherlands bans imports of goods from Israeli settlements

AMSTERDAM, May 22 (YPA) – The Dutch government, led by Prime Minister Rob Jutten, has approved a ban on imports of goods produced in Israeli settlements in occupied Palestinian territories.

Jutten added on Friday “This measure aims to prevent economic contributions to the illegal occupation.”

The ban, expected to take effect in the latter half of the year, follows intentions announced by the previous government. Despite being a major buyer of Israeli products, the Netherlands has not disclosed the volume of imports from these settlements.

Most world powers consider Israeli settlements, built on land occupied by Israel in the 1967 war, to be illegal, while “Israel” disputes this, arguing that it has historical and religious ties to the land.

Numerous UN Security Council resolutions have called on “Israel” to cease all settlement activity.
