WASHINGTON, May 20 (YPA) – The United States announced on Tuesday new sanctions targeting several Palestinian figures, activists, and residents of European countries accused of links to Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
In a statement, the U.S. Department of State said the measures target individuals and groups it alleges are involved in facilitating activities connected to Hamas.
The sanctions reportedly include organizers linked to blockade-breaking convoys and flotillas, members of pro-Palestinian support networks, and coordinators associated with prisoner solidarity campaigns.
Among those named were Mohammed Khatib, identified as the European coordinator of the Samidoun network and based in Belgium, as well as activist Saif Abu Kashk, who has been involved in Gaza blockade-breaking initiatives and was previously detained by Israeli occupation’s authorities near Greece before being deported to Barcelona.
Under the sanctions, any assets or property belonging to the designated individuals within the United States are subject to freezing, while American companies and institutions are prohibited from conducting financial or legal dealings with them.
