Iran condemns Israeli assassination of Al-Qassam Brigades commander

TEHRAN, May 17 (YPA) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned the Israeli regime’s terrorist assassination of Al-Qassam Brigades Commander Izz al-Din al-Haddad in Gaza, saying the crime reflected the regime’s “desperation and helplessness” in the face of Palestinian resistance.

In a statement published on X, the ministry strongly condemned the “terrorist act” carried out by Israeli occupation in targeting and killing Izz al-Din al-Haddad, commander-in-chief of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, along with his wife and daughter.

The assassination and similar attacks formed “part of Israel’s criminal scheme for the colonial eradication of Palestine,” the statement said, adding that the US, as “the largest military, financial, and political supporter of the Zionist apartheid regime,” was “complicit in each and every one of these crimes.”

It offered congratulations and condolences over the “martyrdom of this great fighter” to the leadership of Hamas, the “patient and struggling” Palestinian people, and “all Muslims and freedom-seekers around the world.”

The ministry further stressed that the “physical elimination” of resistance commanders and Palestinian elites would not undermine the resistance movement, but would instead inspire “followers and fighters on the path of Palestine’s dignity and freedom.”
