GAZA, May 14 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation authorities released 13 detainees from the Gaza Strip on Wednesday via the Kerem Shalom crossing, where the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) teams facilitated their transfer into the Strip.
Upon their arrival, the released detainees were taken to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital for urgent medical examinations. Most displayed signs of extreme fatigue and emaciation, resulting from the harsh detention conditions they endured within the occupation’s prisons.
The list of released detainees includes: Nashat Mohammed Dardouna, Nader Mohammed Abu Shahma, Ahmed Nasr Jaber, Mohammed Nasser Abu Maghseeb, Ahmed Nasr, Hassan Attia Al-Najjar, Rushdi Daoud Alwan, Mohammed Akram Alwan, Abdul Rahman Zakaria Al-Matouq, Yousef Saeed Haniyeh, Mohammed Adnan Abu Warda, Hamza Zayda Al-Bahansi, and Ahmed Daoud Alwan.
This release follows similar operations throughout April, during which Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital received consecutive groups of released detainees, including five individuals released on April 29 and 15 released on April 26 via the “Kissufim” gate. Previous testimonies and reports from released detainees have highlighted the mistreatment and denial of medical care faced by Palestinian prisoners, alongside ongoing restrictions during their detention.
According to data from the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club, the number of prisoners in the occupation’s prisons has exceeded 9,600. This figure includes approximately 1,250 from the Gaza Strip classified as “unlawful combatants,” 90 female prisoners, and about 350 children. Additionally, the number of administrative detainees held without charge has reached over 3,532.
