Young man killed by security forces in Aden amid conflicting reports

ADEN, May 09 (YPA) – A young man, identified as Marwan Hussein Al-Alimi, was shot and killed on Friday evening by armed elements loyal to Saudi Arabia in the Dar Sad district of Aden province, southern Yemen.

Local sources reported that gunmen aboard a military vehicle opened fire on Al-Alimi while he was in front of his home in the Al-Mamdarah area. He reportedly died instantly from a direct gunshot wound to the neck. Sources pointed to elements loyal to commander Musleh Al-Dharhani as being responsible for the incident.

Saudi-backed forces’ military vehicles deployed a security cordon around the hospital where the victim was initially taken, before his body was transferred to the Al-Jumhouria Hospital morgue.

In contrast, Aden Police provided a different account, stating that Al-Alimi was killed during a security operation as he was a suspect in an “attempted murder” case, following an alleged shooting incident involving another citizen in the same area.
