BEIJING, May 06 (YPA) – Spokesman of Chinese Foreign Ministry, Lin Jian, said on Wednesday that China firmly opposes unilateral sanctions that lack a basis in international law or are not authorized by the UN Security Council.
Speaking at a regular press briefing, Lin revealed that Beijing had lodged a formal protest with the United Kingdom, expressing strong dissatisfaction over sanctions imposed by the British government on entities and individuals from several countries, including two Chinese firms, in connection with the Russia-Ukraine conflict, according to Xinhua News Agency.
Addressing the Ukraine crisis, Lin said China remains committed to promoting peace negotiations and maintaining strict controls over the export of dual-use civilian and military goods. He stressed that normal exchanges and cooperation between China and Russia should not be disrupted or adversely affected.
He added that China will take all necessary measures to firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
