TEHRAN, May 03(YPA) – First Deputy Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Ali Nikzad, declared on Sunday that Tehran has drafted legislation prohibiting Israeli vessels from transiting the Strait of Hormuz and restricting passage for ships from “hostile states” unless war reparations be paid.
According to remarks cited by the “World Channel” website, Nikzad said the proposed law would allow other vessels to pass only after securing authorization from Iranian authorities.
He added that the draft framework governing the Strait would be developed in line with international law and the rights of neighboring countries.
The proposal comes amid heightened regional tensions following recent hostilities, during which Iran accused the United States and Israeli entity of launching military actions against its territory.
The Iranian officials said they responded with retaliatory strikes targeting Israeli and U.S. positions in the region under what they described as “Operation True Promise 4.”
