Sanaa FM condemns Israeli aggression on Global Sumud Flotilla

SANAA, April 30 (YPA) – The Sanaa-based Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemned the Israeli occupation forces’ attack on the Global Sumud Flotilla, a vessel carrying hundreds of international volunteers on a mission aimed at challenging the blockade on Gaza and delivering humanitarian assistance.

In an official statement, the ministry questioned the motives behind targeting the flotilla, arguing that the occupation’s attack constituted a violation of international humanitarian law, conventions, and legal norms that prohibit assaults on humanitarian vessels in international waters, obstruction of aid deliveries, and attacks on relief convoys or their crews.

Furthermore, the statement accused Israel of continuing military operations in Gaza and the West Bank, maintaining a severe blockade, and using starvation as a tool of war, which it said has produced catastrophic humanitarian consequences.

At the same time, it praised the participants in the flotilla, describing them as an example of international solidarity for undertaking the mission despite the risks involved.

The statement’s ministry said their objective was to support Palestinians in Gaza amid the prolonged humanitarian crisis.

In addition, it stressed that the international community bears both legal and moral responsibility to hold the occupation accountable for its actions, end the blockade on Gaza, and ensure the safety of humanitarian missions and their participants.

Finally, the ministry reaffirmed that the Palestinian cause remains a central issue for the Arab and Islamic world, reiterating Yemen’s continued support for the Palestinian people and holy sites.
