Iran resumes international flights, activates “eastern airspace” to regulate traffic

TEHRAN, April 25 (YPA) – Iranian authorities announced on Saturday the resumption of international flights through Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport, in a significant step toward restoring normal operations.

This move follows a period of precautionary restrictions imposed on the country’s airspace due to recent regional military escalations.

As part of this operational recovery, Iran Air confirmed the launch of its first direct flights to Istanbul, noting that the coming days will see a phased return of scheduled services to key destinations including Baku, Najaf, Baghdad, and Doha.

To ensure seamless navigation during this transition, the Iran Airports Company has prioritized the use of “Eastern Airspace” for managing domestic traffic and international transit.

Under this operational plan, the airports of Mashhad, Zahedan, Kerman, Yazd, and Birjand will serve as pivotal hubs for organizing and regulating air traffic, ensuring that the country’s regional gateways are fully integrated into the restored secure flight corridors.
