TEHRAN, April 22 (YPA) –The Iranian “Tasnim” news agency has revealed details of obstacles allegedly placed by the United States in the path of ceasefire negotiations, saying that Tehran had initially agreed to a truce based on a 10-point framework it had proposed, which, according to the agency, was initially accepted by Washington.
The agency quoted sources as saying that the Pakistani side had explicitly confirmed US acceptance of the framework. However, it added that Washington began to backtrack shortly after the agreement, failing to uphold its commitments and refusing to enforce a ceasefire in Lebanon, which led to significant challenges in the negotiations.
Tasnim reported that the Islamabad round of talks included “excessive demands” from the United States, which constituted a clear violation of the agreed 10-point proposal. The agency added that these proposals ultimately led to a complete deadlock in the talks.
The agency further claimed that the US administration sought to compensate for its military and battlefield failures through negotiations, and that a ceasefire in Lebanon was only implemented after Iranian pressure and the threat of a large-scale missile strike against Israel.
Regarding maritime routes, Tasnim said an Iranian initiative to reopen the Strait of Hormuz following the Lebanon ceasefire was met with a hostile US response, including the continuation of a “naval blockade,” which it said reflects Washington’s continued escalation and obstruction of regional stability efforts.
