Hungary pledges to arrest, hand over Netanyahu to ICC

BUDAPEST, April 21 (YPA) – The incoming Hungarian Prime Minister and leader of the “Tisza” party, Péter Magyar, has announced his country’s commitment to enforcing arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

He explicitly confirmed that any wanted individual entering Hungarian territory would be detained, a direct reference to Israeli occupation’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

This policy shift marks a significant reversal of the previous administration’s stance, as Magyar pledged to cancel Viktor Orbán’s decision to withdraw from the ICC, thereby restoring Hungary’s adherence to international judicial mandates.

Magyar further clarified that he has personally informed Netanyahu of his intent to maintain Hungary’s membership in the court. Consequently, should Netanyahu accept the invitation to visit Budapest for the upcoming 1956 Uprising anniversary, the Hungarian government would be legally obligated to arrest and extradite him on charges of war crimes and the use of starvation as a weapon in Gaza.
