BRUSSEL, April. 19 (YPA) – Students and pro-Palestinian activists in Belgium have announced a new protest at a university demanding an end to all forms of academic cooperation with Israeli institutions.
Student groups reported that they have begun preparations for a new protest against universities continuing to maintain academic partnerships with these institutions.
Activists plan to hold an open-ended sit-in in front of the university’s administration building, and organizers expect more than 100 people to participate.
Previously, the students held weeks of events in support of the Palestinian people and demanding a ceasefire in Gaza, ending their action by leaving a banner that read “We will return.”
In addition, the activists are demanding a complete severing of all academic ties with Israel, an end to partnerships within EU research programs, the cancellation of current agreements, a halt to any future cooperation, and the exclusion of Israel from European research funding.
Following previous protests, the university administration announced the suspension of some aspects of cooperation, confirming that it would reassess all existing projects.
