SANAA, April 17 (YPA) – Amidst Pakistani endeavors to extend the ceasefire and push toward a new round of negotiations between Washington and Tehran, the announcement of the ceasefire in Lebanon has emerged as a pivotal shift, reflecting Tehran’s ability to impose its conditions on the negotiating table.
Despite the ceasefire agreement between Washington and Tehran coming into effect on the eighth of this April, “Israel” continued its aggression against Lebanon in a clear attempt to decouple the Lebanese front from the path of understandings with Iran and to impose an independent field and political reality.
Over the past few days, political movements revealed an American-“Israeli” attempt to separate the Lebanese front from the trajectory of understandings with Iran. A meeting was held at the US State Department involving Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the ambassadors of the United States, Lebanon, and the occupation entity.
This occurred amidst the proposal of “Israeli” conditions that included establishing a buffer zone south of the Litani River, ensuring freedom of military action, and reaching the disarmament of Hezbollah.
However, these attempts collided with a firm Iranian stance, which insisted on linking any negotiating path to a comprehensive ceasefire in Lebanon, refusing to engage in any new round with Washington before this condition was solidified.
In light of this refusal, US President Donald Trump announced Thursday that the ceasefire will take effect starting from midnight Thursday for a period of ten days, a step that reflects a retreat from attempts to bypass or circumvent the Lebanese front.
This position was accompanied by direct Iranian monitoring of field developments and an official notification via the Iranian Ambassador in Beirut regarding the commencement of the ceasefire.
This occurred in parallel with assurances from the Resistance that commitment to the truce is contingent upon the complete cessation of “Israeli” aggression.
Accordingly, Iran has succeeded in establishing the “Unity of Fronts” equation by forcing the inclusion of Lebanon within any comprehensive understanding and thwarting “Israeli” efforts to separate the fronts. Thus, the Lebanese front has transformed into a decisive element in shaping the course of negotiations, rather than a card that can be bypassed.
