Ceasefire in Lebanon expected to take effect amid Iranian pressure

TEHRAN, April 15 (YPA) – A ceasefire in Lebanon is expected to come into effect on Wednesday night following intensified pressure and diplomatic efforts by Iran.

Al Mayadeen reported, citing a senior Iranian political and security source, that the truce would last for one week and align with the duration of the ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States, while warning of potential attempts by Israeli occupation’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to undermine the deal.

In parallel, Israeli occupation’s Kan channel reported ongoing discussions on a ceasefire with Lebanon, noting that the Israeli cabinet would be set to review the proposal at Washington’s request.

Earlier, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had indicated that the Lebanon ceasefire was part of broader understandings reached between Tehran and Washington, a point reiterated by Iranian officials.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei stressed that Tehran would not abandon Lebanon, describing the ceasefire as a key component of the Islamabad negotiations.
