SANAA, Aug. 5 (YPA) – Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf on Sunday handed the acting resident representative of the UN High Commission for Human Rights in Sanaa a letter to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein.
In the letter, Sharaf expressed Yemen’s appreciation for the positive and balanced attitudes of Al-Hussein and his repeated calls for ending the aggression against Yemen and giving priority to the political solution.
The Saudi-led aggression coalition is continuing to violate all human rights in Yemen and to commit the most heinous crimes of war on a daily basis before the eyes and ears of the international community, the letter said.
The minister noted that the last of those crimes was targeting of Al-Thawrah Hospital in the city of Hodeidah and a fish market in the fishing port last Thursday, which left more than 180 dead and wounded among civilians, in violation of international law.
Sharaf called, in the letter, for the formation of an independent international commission of inquiry to investigate all crimes against the Yemeni people since the beginning of the aggression, including the recent crimes in Hodeidah, and to bring the perpetrators of those crimes to justice to receive their just punishment.
In the meeting, Sharaf discussed with the acting representative of the UN High Commission for Human Rights the latest developments related to the work of the regional and international expert group to investigate human rights violations in Yemen.
