TEHRAN, April. 10 (YPA) – An Iranian source told media outlets that reports of the Iranian negotiating delegation’s arrival in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, were false.
The source confirmed that mediating countries, including Pakistan, had been informed that Iran would not engage in talks while Israeli attacks on Lebanon continued.
The source added that the United States had a limited window of opportunity to restrain Israel, otherwise the ceasefire talks would collapse.
Iran insists on the United States and Israel’s commitment to include Lebanon in the ceasefire agreement brokered by Pakistan.
In this context, the Iranian news agency Fars, quoting an informed source, reported that the issue of Lebanon and a ceasefire there is an absolute and non-negotiable precondition for Tehran to enter into any new negotiation process.
For his part, the Pakistani Defense Minister asserted that “Israel, while peace talks are taking place in Islamabad, is committing genocide in Lebanon.”
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had announced that Iran and the United States, along with their allies, had agreed to an immediate ceasefire everywhere, including Lebanon, to take effect immediately. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu violated this agreement with American support, during which Washington claimed that the agreement did not include Lebanon.
