One killed, several wounded in tribal attack on military outpost in Taiz

TAIZ, April 05 (YPA) – A soldier was killed and three others from the forces of “Presidential Leadership Council member Tareq Saleh” were wounded early Sunday morning during an attack by tribal gunmen from the “Al-Mashaoula” clan.

The assault targeted a newly established military checkpoint in the Al-Hadhara area of Al-Wazi’iyah district, western Taiz governorate.

Local sources reported that the attack was a retaliatory response to the killing of a civilian and the wounding of others by these forces last Thursday, which was followed by a wave of kidnappings and a siege on local villages.

In a simultaneous development, the “Al-Sabiha and Al-Wazi’iyah Tribal Alliance” issued a strongly worded statement demanding the Saudi-backed Presidential Leadership Council intervene immediately to stop what they described as “aggressive practices” by Saleh’s forces.

The alliance threatened a general mobilization and the recall of tribal members from various military factions to confront these forces if the escalation continues.
