Contracted teachers hold protest in Socotra over 5 consecutive months of unpaid salaries

SOCOTRA, Oct. 05 (YPA) – Dozens of contracted teachers in the Socotra Archipelago Governorate held a protest on Sunday, demanding the release of their financial entitlements and salaries, which have been suspended since last April.

Demonstrators raised banners and chanted slogans condemning the continued disregard by the Saudi-backed government and local authorities regarding the non-payment of their financial dues for five consecutive months.

Protesters emphasized that the delay in issuing their salaries has unprecedentedly worsened their living conditions, creating a severe burden amid the current economic situation.

Calling for the urgent disbursement of their overdue salaries, the demonstrators urged authorities to alleviate the living conditions of teachers, whom they described as the primary line of defense in preventing a total breakdown of the educational process in the governorate.

They noted that their escalation and legitimate protest actions will continue until all their financial rights are fully granted.
