ANKARA, April. 05 (YPA) – Activists and civil organizations in the city of Van, eastern Turkey, organized a massive march to protest the Zionist attacks in Palestine and American policies in the Middle East.
The march started from “Başyol” Square and proceeded to the city square, with the participation of thousands of citizens from various backgrounds, raising banners and chanting slogans in support of the Palestinian people and condemning the aggression.
The concluding statement affirmed that the region is experiencing a state of continuous escalation, with ongoing attacks on civilians in the Gaza Strip, and their spread to other countries such as Lebanon and Iran.
The statement indicated that the prolonged closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque, especially during Ramadan, constitutes a serious violation of freedom of worship, warning of the dangers threatening Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem.
It also addressed the situation of Palestinian prisoners, warning of the dangers of imposing the death penalty on them, and stressing that this constitutes a serious escalation and a violation of international law.
In addition, the statement criticized what it described as international silence regarding what is happening, calling on governments and peoples to take more effective stances to stop the violations.
The organizers called for continued popular movements and solidarity with the Palestinian people, stressing that standing against what they described as injustice is a humanitarian and moral responsibility
