BERNE, March 21 (YPA) – The Swiss government announced on Friday the suspension of licenses for arms and military equipment exports to the United States, following Washington’s involvement in ongoing military operations against Iran.
Berne confirmed in an official statement that domestic laws prohibit the export of war materiel to nations engaged in international armed conflicts, noting that this ban will remain in effect for the duration of the conflict with Iran.
The government emphasized that this step aligns with Switzerland’s “traditional neutrality” and its commitment to remaining non-aligned in escalating regional disputes.
The decision is expected to impact existing defense export contracts as Switzerland seeks to balance its legal obligations with its economic interests without compromising its historical principles.
This precautionary stance comes amid rapid field developments and escalating military confrontations between Iran on one side, and the United States and “Israel” on the other, prompting Berne to take this defensive position regarding its legal sovereignty.
