Israeli occupation continues to close Al-Aqsa Mosque for 16th consecutive day

OCCUPIED AL-QUDS, March. 16 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation authorities continue to close Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem, preventing worshippers from accessing it for the sixteenth consecutive day, under the pretext of security conditions related to the American-Israeli war on Iran.

For the first time since 1967, the occupation is preventing worshippers from performing prayers and observing Itikaf (seclusion for worship) at Al-Aqsa Mosque, with worshippers absent from the last Friday prayer of Ramadan.

For its part, the Jerusalem governorate warned of the dangerous escalation in incitement led by the extremist so-called “Temple Mount” organizations against Al-Aqsa Mosque, in light of the continued closure measures.

The Governorate stressed that what is happening cannot be considered temporary security measures, as the occupation authorities claim, but rather falls within a political and ideological agenda aimed at changing the existing religious, historical, and legal status quo at the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
