Amnesty International: Women in Gaza face systematic violence amounting to genocide

GAZA, March 10 (YPA) – Amnesty International has warned that Palestinian women and girls in Gaza Strip are facing extreme forms of gender-based violence and discrimination amid ongoing Israeli aggression.

The organization highlighted the catastrophic destruction of essential infrastructure, particularly maternal and reproductive healthcare services.

According to Amnesty, a March 2025 UN Commission of Inquiry concluded that “Israel” has systematically employed sexual and reproductive violence against Palestinians. The commission’s findings further suggested acts of genocide, citing the targeted destruction of women’s healthcare facilities and the denial of access to basic medical services.

The organization referenced subsequent reports to underscore the severity of the crisis:

  • September 2025: The UN Commission concluded that “Israel” committed genocide in Gaza, including measures specifically designed to prevent births.
  • December 2024: Amnesty’s own documentation detailed mass killings and the imposition of “calculated conditions of life” intended to bring about the physical destruction of Palestinians.

A Humanitarian Catastrophe

Amnesty reaffirmed its commitment to working with feminist movements and human rights defenders to document these violations and pursue international accountability.

This comes amid the ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, which, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, has resulted in more than 244,000 martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, in addition to more than 11,000 missing persons and hundreds of thousands of displaced persons, and widespread destruction affecting most areas of the Strip.
