Hamas accuses Israeli occupation of exploiting global focus on Iran to escalate Gaza attacks

GAZA, March 10 (YPA) – Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasem said on Monday new attacks by Israeli occupation forces on civilians in the Gaza Strip, highlighting shelling west of Gaza City before breakfast on Sunday.

In a press statement, Qasem affirmed that an occupation artillery targeted tents of displaced people, killing three Palestinian women, including a journalist, describing the attack as a dangerous escalation and a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement.

He accused Israeli occupation of exploiting global attention on U.S.-Israeli actions against Iran and Lebanon to intensify its attacks on Gaza and tighten the blockade, particularly by closing the Rafah crossing, with U.S. support.

Qasem urged international mediators to intervene to halt the aggression and lift the siege, stressing that targeting displaced civilians and killing women constitutes a blatant violation of international law and norms.
